  • How does the buying process actually work?

    Here is our hassle-free process:

    First, you fill out a form on our website - it takes about three minutes.

    Then, we send you an estimated offer using the details you provided. We will send this via text.

    If you accept our offer, one of our friendly and professional Buyers will contact you to make an appointment to view your vehicle.

    We visit you at a time and location of your convenience.

    Our Buyer will give the vehicle a check over and go for a quick drive.

    The deal is finalised and we pay you on the spot. We also take care of the Change of Ownership.

    That's it.

  • What type of vehicles does Your Salesman buy?

    Any vehicle as long as it has a valid Warrant of Fitness. We also consider boats, caravans, motorcycles, and motorhomes. Diesel vehicles with outdated Road User Charges would need to be updated by you before selling, or we can deduct the renewal cost and update it afterwards

  • I have finance owing on my vehicle. Can you still buy my car?

    Yes we can. We can settle your car on your behalf with any New Zealand registered finance house. All we require from you is a settlement letter which is valid for the day of purchase. Should our offer be more than what is owed, then the balance will be paid into your bank account.

  • I have a late-model vehicle. Isn't it better to trade-in?

    Thanks to our national car dealing network we can (in most cases) pay more for late-model vehicles compared to trading them in, we’re talking here vehicles 2015 and newer. Again, we will do our absolute best to make this happen.

  • How does Your Salesman decide what to offer me?

    Your offer gets calculated by our experienced Buying team, based on the market at the time for your vehicle, (comes down to supply and demand).

    Multiple resources and up to date national data are used to calculate the value of your vehicle to us. You will receive this value as our maximum offer, via text.

    Our Buyer will meet with you for the cosmetic and mechanical condition of your vehicle to be inspected.

    This inspection will be used to calculate how much we would need to spend on the vehicle to get it back to showroom condition for reselling.

    If nothing needs to be spent on it for it to be at showroom ready, then we pay the maximum offer. If any money is to be spent on reconditioning, it will be subtracted off the maximum offer. Our Buyer will always be open and honest, point out and explain to you on the spot what he/she sees and what work your car would need.

    We are not unreasonable and we do not expect a new car every time.

    The older the vehicle, the more reasonable we are with regards to normal wear and tear/ condition.

  • How will I receive my offer?

    We send you a text message with our maximum offer.

  • What if I am not happy with the offer?

    Your offer was sent to you with no obligations, which means you don't have to do anything. And remember, you can reply to the text message you receive and let us know if you’re not happy with the price we give you, and suggest a price. We like keeping our customers happy, so we might ask for feedback or build a different deal that suits your circumstances better.

    You are always welcome to let us know if you are not happy, maybe provide us an idea of how much you were expecting. Keep in mind that we are a vehicle dealer, therefore will not pay the retail value of a vehicle (the value we would need to sell it for.)

  • How long do I have to wait for an offer?

    We try and send you an offer within 24 hours. Often you will receive it the same day or even within a couple of hours.

  • What if I missed something that might affect my offer?

    That is no biggie. Our friendly Buyers will add that to your vehicle’s profile, and if needed, the offer can be adjusted on the spot.

    You can decide if you are still happy to sell your car or not. If you picked something up before a Buyer arrives, just give us a call or let your buyer know, and they can send you a new offer before your appointment.

About the Visit

  • What happens during a visit?

    A friendly and professional Buyer will check the vehicle over during a visit to ensure its condition matches the description you gave us online. They will also go for a quick drive and verify your identity. If everything is in order, they organise your payment and Change of Ownership right there on the spot.

    The whole process can take as little as 15 minutes.

  • I work full-time. Can the Buyer meet me at work?

    Yes! Even during your lunch break.

    Please mention to our buyer if you have any time restraints, and they will plan to meet you where and whenever is convenient.

  • How long does the visit take?

    15 - 30 minutes.

  • What about COVID-19?

    We want to assure you that our professional Buyers take all the necessary precautions and follow government guidelines to help keep you and our community safe.

    If you prefer a contactless visit, please mention this to our Buyer before they arrive. Our staff are all fully vaccinated and will always practice social distancing and wear a mask according to Alert Levels.

  • What do you need from me?

    Drivers license, Settlement letter (if applicable), bank details, physical address, email address, mobile phone number.

About Getting Paid

  • When do I get paid?

    Immediately. Our Buyer will capture all your details and submit it to our accounts department, with the payment and paperwork processed at the same time.

    Our Buyer will wait with you until you have received the confirmation email from our accounts department which will include proof of payment, ownership change and a purchase agreement.

  • How do I get paid?

    Direct bank transfer.

  • Do you have a location I can visit?

    Your Salesman is a mobile vehicle buying service, we do not have a walk-in dealership. You are welcome to make an appointment to visit our workshop and holding yard if you want your vehicle evaluated in person. Please phone 0800 725376 to make an appointment.
